Two types of Chargers Offered

Chargers

LESTER AUTOMATIC CUTOFF CHARGER

Visit Lester Electrical Web site

Chargers are available for charging 36, 48, and 60 volt systems and are rated at charging amps of 25, 25, and 20 respectively. They require a standard 15 amp 110 volt outlet for input power. All chargers are designed to bring fully discharged batteries to full charge in 12 hours Actual charge time is proportional to the degree of discharge of the   batteries. There are overseas Lester Chargers available in 220V, 50 Cycle models.

Chargers can be mounted on or off the boat. Plugging in either the AC or DC cord starts the automatic charger which cuts off automatically when batteries are fully charged. Chargers are normally stored in a suitable seat or compartment on the boat. Adequate ventilation must be provided when the charger is operating.

Here is what Lester has to say about their automatic charger which they guarantee for one year:

Eliminates over-and-under Charging

The patented electronic timer used in the Lestronic II is the only one of its kind. Its purpose is to measure the rate of change in voltage increase is reduced to a "known" level, that level represents the maximum amount of usable power the battery will accept. Any further charge would over-charge the battery, and damage the battery plates. The Lestronic II is designed to shut off at the proper charge, preserving battery life.

Higher Finish Charge Rates

Because the Lestronic II will not let batteries over-charge, we are also able to build in a higher finish charge rate. This enables the Lestronic II to fully charge your battery 20% faster than with manual-timer chargers with lower finish charge rates.

Prolongs Cell Life

Also, as batteries age, they will generally begin to fail one cell at a time. When this occurs, the finish charge rate must be cut back, because the weaker cells cannot accept a full charge. If the charge is not cut back, the strong cells will receive too much charge. This reduces the life of the good cells, and the useful life of the battery itself. The Lestronic II prohibits this overcharging, giving you longer battery life and more range per charge.

Charging Cycle is Fully Automatic

You can save valuable time with the Lestronic II, because there is no turn-on switch or timer to set. Once the unit is plugged in, the charge cycle automatically begins.
